Eight product content gaps that make a Shopify page hard to understand

A ten-minute audit for missing identity, attributes, buying context, structured data, and outdated information.

For: Shopify merchants whose product pages have titles and descriptions but still cannot answer specific buying questions.

What you can do after reading: Find the weakest field instead of rewriting the whole page.

"AI cannot understand this product" is not a single observable metric. A more useful review is that the page lacks clear, consistent, verifiable information. Customers, search systems, and generative tools then struggle with specific questions.

Google's guidance for AI search still calls for helpful, reliable, people-first content. Important information should appear as text, and structured data should match what the page shows.[1]

1. The product identity is unclear

"Aurora Pro X2" names a series but not a product. "Aurora Pro X2 portable noise-cancelling Bluetooth headphones" gives the reader a category. Brand and category do different jobs.

2. Important attributes are missing

Customers may need size, weight, material, capacity, compatible models, and usage limits. Define the minimum attribute set by category rather than forcing one field list on every product.

3. Fields disagree

A title says 500 ml while the description says 550 ml. An image shows three colors but only two variants exist. The FAQ and return policy use different time limits. The metafield and body use different material names. A conflict is worse than an empty field because the reader cannot tell which version is correct.

4. Features have no buying context

Words such as durable, lightweight, and high performance do not tell a shopper whether the product fits their situation. Explain who uses it, in which environment, for what task, and with which limits.

5. The page misses real pre-purchase questions

Build the FAQ from support conversations, return reasons, reviews, and on-site search. Do not create questions only to make the page longer.

6. Claims crowd out facts

Words such as best, revolutionary, and professional grade need supporting facts. Unsupported claims should not take the place of specifications and usage conditions.

7. Product identity and structured data are weak

Google's Product structured data supports brand, price, availability, reviews, shipping, and returns. Variant markup can help identify products that belong to the same parent.[2] Markup must match the visible page and cannot supply facts that the page does not contain.

8. The content is old

Check whether specifications, images, compatibility, shipping and return terms, and external links are current. Record the last human review.

A ten-minute scorecard

Score each item from 0 to 2. Zero means missing or conflicting, one means present but incomplete, and two means clear and consistent.

CheckScoreNext action
Product identity0 to 2Add the category and defining difference
Core attributes0 to 2Create a category attribute set
Field consistency0 to 2Resolve conflicts
Use cases0 to 2Add the customer task and limits
FAQ0 to 2Answer real buying questions

A low score does not call for a full rewrite. Fix missing facts and conflicts first, then work on context and questions.

BestFeed AI checks identity, attributes, intent, FAQ, authority, and freshness, then suggests changes only for the weak fields.

Run one ten-minute audit today

Score a high-selling product. Pick the lowest fact-based item, confirm the source in supplier material or internal records, and fix it. Then check the title, variants, metafields, body, and structured data for the same value. Record what was missing, the source you used, and every place you changed.

Aurora Pro X2

Aurora Pro X2

  • Metafield
